Baralaba Coal Mine
Location
The Baralaba mine is located near the town of Baralaba in south eastern limb of the Bowen Basin, Queensland. PCI coal and thermal coal are produced from multiple seams from the well-known Rangal Coal Measures. All the coal sold is exported from the Port of Gladstone. The operation sits within a larger 550km2 area of Cockatoo Coal exploration projects.
Mine Production
Baralaba coal mine recommenced production in May 2011 from Central Pit No 2, after the widely-reported 2010/11 spring/summer floods that led to the inundation of Baralaba Central Pit No 1 on December 28 2010. Mine production has now returned to normal planned production capacity of approximately 50,000 tonnes per month.

Mine Planning
Reflecting the significant growth in export coal demand forecast globally to occur during the next 10+ years, planning is being undertaken for a staged expansion of output from Baralaba mine and the Company’s nearby exploration grounds.
The granting of the Mining Lease 80157, received on 22 July 2010, enables the Company’s mining at the Baralaba Mine to continue north from the current operations. Mining in ML 80157 is expected to continue for approximately 24 months.
The company currently anticipates increasing production from Baralaba to
- 750,000tpa in the next 12-15 months, and to
- 3.5Mtpa from 2014/15.
